Course Description

This Instructor-led course uses laboratory and case studies to solidify the understanding taught throughout the course. Beginning with an overview of BGP, Internet Connectivity, Inter-Domain Routing, and i-BGP/e-BGP, the course takes the student from concepts to details of the protocol, session, states, and path attributes. Focus is on BGP operation, policies, configuration, and use within the ISP community. Case studies and laboratory exercises are used to configure BGP using ExtremeWare 6.1+ CLI commands.

Intended Audience

This course is designed for Internet Service Providers (ISP), networking individuals connecting to ISPs, and those desiring to learn and understand the concepts of BGP4 as a protocol and how to configure BGP4 using the Extreme family of Switch products.

  • BGP Protocol Overview, creating sessions, describing message types, takes the student into the conceptual model of BGP operations and how ISPs utilize the protocol
  • ExtremeWare support features of BGP4 using configuration commands during laboratory exercises
  • Case studies are used to aid the student into design, setup, configuration, and deployment of a BGP4 full mesh network of switches
